Catechism of the Catholic Church- English Updated Edition
A catechism is the name given to a written work that contains a summary of all the beliefs of the faith that is used as a teaching tool.
Saint John XXIII articulated a vision for the Fathers of the Second Vatican Council that charged them to guard and present more effectively the deposit of Christian doctrine in order to make it more accessible to the Christian faithful and all people of goodwill in the contemporary world. Eventually, it became clear that the development of a new universal catechism would be beneficial, especially since the Church has grown and the world has changed significantly since 1566.
In 1985, at a synod of bishops in Rome convened to celebrate the twentieth anniversary of the conclusion of the Second Vatican Council, a proposal to develop a universal catechism for the Catholic Church was made and accepted. The outcome was the Catechism of the Catholic Church, first published in 1992, A new edition with some modifications was released in 1997.
The Catechism of the Catholic Church is arranged in four parts:
- The Profession of Faith
- The Celebration of the Christian Mystery
- Life in Christ
- Christian Prayer
The content of the Catechism is faithful to Apostolic Tradition, Scripture and the Magisterium. It incorporates the heritage of the Doctors, Fathers, and Saints of the Church and illuminates with the light of faith, contemporary situations, problems and questions.

Saints at the Dinner Table
I aimed to create recipes that would appeal to most people, would not require a master’s in culinary arts to prepare and that would entertain as well as inform. My hope is that you feel inspired too and that this book serves as a friendly guidebook in your own quest to connect with—and even break bread with (as our Christian tradition calls us to do)—some of our most beloved saints! Prepare the meals with your family and bring the saints alive at your dinner table. —from the Introduction
Invitation to the Contemplative Life
Thomas Merton, a twentieth-century Trappist monk, wrote passionately about spirituality in a way that speaks to the hearts of men and women today. Merton’s gift to all of us is this simple message: the contemplative experience, which uncovers our unity with the Lord and a new vision of life, is not only for monks but for all Christians. Invitation to the Contemplative Life highlights the main themes of Merton’s contemplative journey: the search for freedom; prayer of the heart; solitude and silence; love of nature; community life; and work, among others. Guided by his wisdom and insight, readers can uncover their own unique path inward and receive the gift of the contemplative experience.

Ablaze: Stories of Daring Teen Saints
Following Christ is not always easy, but takes courage, patience, and love. In Ablaze: Stories of Daring Teen Saints, Colleen Swaim examines the lives of eight young men and women who were set fire with the Spirit and set free to live lives of extraordinary virtue.
All became saints for the outgoing, against-the-current heroism of their teen years. Read how Chiara Luce, an Italian high school student, faced cancer joyfully, inspiring thousands to throng her funeral in song. Follow Kizito, a brand-new Christian, as his faith is challenged by a king and he is marched to his death for standing firm. From martyrdom to missionary life and from sickness to the silence of religious life, these teens show that we are all called to follow Christ in our own unique ways.
These stories come alive with vivid storytelling and saintly challenges designed to inspire reflection and enflame your heart. Through prayers, images, and maps, catch a glimpse of a saint’s world that carries lessons for our own–and discover how you can set our world ablaze with love for the Lord!
